Surfing
Catch the world-class waves of the Nayarit region! With many years of local knowledge, we have a pretty good idea where to find the best surf conditions. If you are a seasoned surfer, you will enjoy the early morning surf trips where our guides map out the best surf and bring you to it by van or boat. Daily surf tours depart every morning at 7:00 a.m. and return between noon and 2:00 p.m. The waves are excellent for both short and longboarding. The average wave size is shoulder to head-high range, occasionally bigger, occasionally smaller, depending on what Mother Nature blesses us with. The water temperature ranges from 72 to 84 degrees depending on the prevailing currents. We have access to a wide variety of surf spots, mostly point breaks, both lefts and rights, from inside the Bay of Bandares north to San Blas. Surf locations include Punta de Mita, Burro’s, Chacala, Platanitos, Santa Cruz, Matanchen, Aticama, Stoner’s Point and Sayulita.

Surf lessons
With year-around warm water and sandy bottom beaches, Costa Azul is a great place to learn to surf. Our experienced instructors will give you some light training on the beach, then escort you into the water with a soft-foam longboard. The instructor will stay close to you and soon you will be up and riding!
Snorkeling at Marietas Islands
Our most popular excursion! Explore the spectacular marine life of the Bay of Banderas where you are bound to see schools of dolphins and migrating whales. The Marietas islands are designated bird sanctuaries where yellow and blue footed boobys can be spotted. After swimming among colorful fish in warm tropical waters, you will discover the center of the island where a private beach awaits you.
Sea Kayaking
Explore the wild coastline in sea kayaks in search of secluded coves and white sand beaches. We offer beginner to advanced trips, some of which combine paddling with snorkeling. Our experienced guides will provide you with thorough instruction.
Tours are subject to change at any time. Not all tours are offered year round due to the seasonal nature of the particular tour. Tour destinations are updated on a regular basis. Scheduled tours may be canceled or rescheduled based on weather and other operating restrictions

Hiking
Hike the ancient trails of the Huichol Indians at the Archelolgical site of Alta Vista or “La Pila del Rey” (The king’s fountain). Located along the Las Piletas Creek, on the rim of the El Copo volcano, Alta Vista is considered the most complex site of its type in the state of Nayarit. Dating back 2000 years, ninety engraved rocks cover this sacred area and in pre-Hispanic times. To this day, local Mestizos as well as Huichol Indians still worship in this area. Don't miss this unforgettable experience of history and local culture.
San Blas/ La Tovara River Boat
A half day excursion to San Blas (located about 1.5 hours north of Costa Azul) gives you the opportunity to experience the exotic wild life of the Nayarit region. Upon arriving at the La Tovara preserve, you will board an open-air boat and traverse the mangroves and spring fed river in search of crocodiles, turtles, iguanas and an amazing array of birds and other tropical wildlife. After the boat ride and a refreshing swim at the spring, you will enjoy a tasty lunch in the charming town of San Blas.
Whale Watching
Witness the beauty, harmony and grace of the Humpback whales who inhibit the Bay of Banderas from mid December to the end of March. Humpback whales migrate south from their arctic feeding grounds to breed and rear their young in the warm, protected waters of the bay. A hydrophone will accompany our guides to help share the underwater songs and sounds of the whales and dolphins with you.
